DhanSutra Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Welcome to Nepalabs. We operate DhanSutra, a mobile application for tracking NEPSE-related portfolio and market information. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy or our practices, please contact us using the details at the end of this document.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the DhanSutra app (“App”). By using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the DhanSutra mobile application. It does not cover third-party websites or services that we do not control, even if linked from the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and authentication

When you create an account or sign in, we process information needed to operate the service, including:

  • Email address — used for authentication and account recovery.
  • Authentication data — managed through our authentication provider (see Third-party services below). We do not store your password in plain text in the App.

2.2 Profile and preferences

  • Display name (optional) — how we may greet you in the App; may be stored on our servers when you choose to save it.

2.3 Data you provide for app features

Depending on how you use DhanSutra, we may process:

  • Portfolio data — symbols, quantities, buy prices, and related inputs you enter (including optional imports such as broker CSV files).
  • Watchlist — symbols you save to track.
  • App settings — such as language and theme preferences (some may be stored locally on your device and/or synced where the feature supports it).

2.4 Technical and usage data

We may automatically collect or derive certain technical information necessary to run and secure the App, such as:

  • Device type, operating system version, and app version.
  • Diagnostic or error information when something goes wrong.
  • Approximate timestamps of activity as logged by our backend for security and reliability.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App (including portfolio, watchlist, and market-related features).
  • Authenticate you and protect account security.
  • Sync your data across devices when you are signed in, where applicable.
  • Provide optional features such as AI-generated summaries or perspectives, clearly labeled as educational and not financial advice.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
  • Communicate with you about the service when necessary (for example, related to security or your account).

Depending on your location, we may rely on one or more of the following:

  • Consent — where we ask for your consent (for example, for optional processing).
  • Contract — processing necessary to provide the App you requested.
  • Legitimate interests — such as securing our systems, preventing abuse, and improving the product, where not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must process or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share information only as described below:

  • Service providers — we use trusted third parties to host infrastructure, authenticate users, store data, and provide optional AI or market data features. They may process information on our instructions and under contractual safeguards.
  • Legal and safety — we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Nepalabs, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Google AdSense or similar advertising networks inside DhanSutra as of this policy version.

6. Third-Party Services

The App relies on services such as (non-exhaustive):

  • Supabase (or equivalent) — authentication, database storage for account-linked data (for example portfolio, watchlist, profile fields), and related backend operations. Data is processed according to their terms and our configuration.
  • Market and catalog data — third-party pipelines may supply quotes and symbol metadata; data may be delayed or incomplete.
  • AI providers — optional features may send limited context (such as symbol and market fields) to model providers to generate text. Do not include sensitive personal data in free-text fields beyond what the App requests.

You should review the privacy practices of these providers on their websites. Their processing is in addition to this policy where they act as subprocessors.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

DhanSutra is a mobile application, not a website. We do not use browser cookies in the App. Authentication sessions and local preferences may be stored on your device using platform storage mechanisms (for example secure storage or app preferences) in line with normal mobile app behavior.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain information only as long as needed to provide the App and fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required by law.

You may request deletion of your account and associated server-side data where the App provides an account deletion flow. Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period or where required for legal compliance.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law (including, where relevant, GDPR-style rights in the EEA/UK or similar laws elsewhere), you may have the right to:

  • Access or receive a copy of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account or certain data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Children’s Privacy

DhanSutra is not intended for children under the age required in your jurisdiction to consent to data processing without parental authorization. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12. International Transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by law.
